Using Attraction Principles In Your Business. Are You Skeptical?

Updated: Oct 27, 2020

“The Law of Attraction and Attraction Principles? I ask you. What a load of mumbo-jumbo!”

So says the hard-edged business professional who has always found success through the fruits of talent and hard graft. And yet what guru, coach or mentor does not talk about the Law of Attraction nowadays

The cynic may argue that all those successful people who wrote books or ran courses on the subject managed to created wealth by seducing the dreamers into paying them by saying what they wanted to hear, or they just got lucky, or it was all really just the result of a more positive psyche. The cynics would wonder if the only people actually manifesting money are the ones selling law of attraction tips or life-coaches providing their clients with law of attraction coaching!

….But why should I care what a cynic might say...?

Wallace Wattles (“The Science of Getting Rich") "There is an exact science of getting rich, and it is an exact science, like algebra or arithmetic. There are certain laws which govern the process of acquiring riches, and once these laws are learned and obeyed by anyone, that person will get rich with mathematical certainty. ….Do not listen to arguments against this idea.”

Good advice from Wally Wattles. Obviously I highly recommend the book!

Back in 2006 the movie “The Secret” has brought the Law of Attraction out of relative obscurity and into a wider audience. It has generated a lot of interest and with it a market for all things associated with it. “The Secret” does introduce basic attraction principles but it is very simplistic.

It makes it sound easy and effortless. All you have to do is think the right thoughts and - Hey Presto – your deepest desires are manifest. You manifest money and abundant wealth.

Hmm. Sounds too easy. The concept is simple. But that does not mean it is easy.

Wallace Wattles (“The Science of Getting Rich") “There is no labour from which most people shrink as they do from that of sustained and consecutive thought. It is the hardest work in the world.”

It takes effort, but not physical effort. It takes sustained mental effort, self-training and continual correction until you are in a state of being that you can only describe as being "In the zone", like a sportsman on the top of his/her form. You visualise whatever it is you want and you and the resources around you come together to create it.

Your mind is the blueprint, the architect, and the universe responds and brings about whatever it is you are visualising.

As Steven R Covey explained, all things are created twice : “There’s a mental or first creation, and a physical or second creation to all things.Take the construction of a home, for example. You create it in every detail before you ever hammer the first nail into place. . . .

Then you reduce it to blueprint and develop construction plans. . . .

You have to make sure that the blueprint, the first creation, is really what you want, that you’ve thought everything through. Then you put it into bricks and mortar. . . . You begin with the end in mind.

Through imagination, we can visualize the uncreated worlds of potential that lie within us.”

—from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Gary Player was attributed as saying "The more I practice the luckier I get". The reason that some people find it so hard to put attraction principles into practice is because attitudes and beliefs can be very ingrained. Thoughts can become automatic responses and it takes a mental discipline to change your thinking.

Changing your thinking means literally that you change the neural pathways in your brain. Just as you exercise your body in the gym to build strength and muscles, breaking down old cells and replacing them with new, so it is with your mind.

You start with your thoughts that drive your actions which develop your habits, grow your character which determines your destiny.

Using Attraction Principles In Your Business

So to attune yourself to abundance thinking start the day with daily focus exercises. Recognise and appreciate the good things in your life. Be thankful for them. Read something inspiring. Smile...

When you go to bed at night contemplate for a minute or so on the positives of the day...

What did you achieve...?

Did you handle a situation better than you may have done a before?

Consider the lesson you can learn from failures.

Make sure the news isn't the last thing you saw before going to bed.... Instead watch a "Mind Movie" that will focus your mind on your goals, so that as you sleep your creative mind will work on ideas to help you reach them.

If you are skeptical then treat it as an experiment. Use the techniques and tools! and see what difference they make...
